Candy Royalle has been writing and performing an arresting blend of monologues, poetry, storytelling and song for over ten years. She seeks to challenge peoples perceptions of performance art through integrating sound, costume and theatre. Variously described as ‘intensely passionate’, ‘unique’ and ‘mesmerising’, Candy Royalle is ‘Like a ring master of a circus...she beckons you to follow and before you know it her tales come alive, breathing fire and walking the tight rope all behind the wide eyes of the spellbound crowd.’ (CJ Shaw, Shut the Folk Up). Drawing on the world around her for inspiration and experiences gathered during her lifetime, her subjects range from love to politics, people she’s met along the way and occasional rants.
So far, Candy Royalle’s distinctive, highly-charged performances have sold out as part of the Sydney Fringe Festival with an extra show being added due to popular demand. She wowed audiences at TiNA (This is Not Art, Experimental Arts Festival) with curator David Finnigan proclaiming: ‘Candy is the kind of act you remember for years. And I don’t mean just vague memory, she kind of burns herself onto your heart and soul’. She was invited to perform as part of the Australian Poetry Festival where other writers and poets included renowned Australian author and poet David Malouf, demonstrating that her level of writing is as developed and hard hitting as her performances.

Candy Royalle has also travelled the globe, performing for audiences both English speaking and not. From Thailand and India to London and Spain, her live shows are renowned for they dynamism. Unapologetically driven to connect with people who would otherwise remain strangers, she aims to reach out and be heard whilst hearing the stories of others.

Candy Royalle has performed regularly at the Poets Café in Covent Garden London, performed for Apples and Snakes (www.applesandsnakes.co.uk), collaborated with members of the London Symphony orchestra and Sydney Symphony Orchestra as well as numerous bands in both London and Spain. She has performed as part of festivals in London, Manchester and Spain. She has twice won the audience choice award at the annual world poetry competition and has also been a finalist in the NSW Slam competition. Her work has been covered in the Sydney Morning Herald and Aesthetics Now as well as local and street press in Australia and the UK.
